History of Culture and Art Association

The association originates from the church mixed choir, which sang in the castle chapel after the Second World War.

When the municipal and other authorities of that time in 1949 banned worshipping in the chapel, the choir, which stayed without their choral rehearsal room overnight, established a cultural society so that it could survive. Ever since, it has been still performing without interruption.

In the following years, a theatre group, a cinema section, a folklore group and a library were formed within the association, but gradually all but the above-mentioned choir ceased to operate. Eventually, new groups began to appear, some of them reviving the activities from the past.

The domicile of the association is in the renovated Renaissance castle Rače from the 16th century (you can see its photo on our website).

The members of the Culture and Art Association Rače is proud of and very thankful to the Municipality of Rače-Fram that stands by their side all the time, by offering spatial possibilities for their activities and above all support and assistance of any kind.

The president of KUD Rače has been Tone Žuraj since 2006.
